Literature,Vedanta -- 15 / June / 2012

Here are the three śloka which inspired me to write my first children book.

They are from Bhāgavata Purāa (skandha 10, adhyāya 8,  śloka 35, 36, 37).

As the book was written in English, I translated them to English too.

One thing to keep on mind when we read this Purāa, is what I wrote here.

So enjoy them and put your imagination to fly…

OBS: with the next post it will be more clear what they really mean. Stay tuned…

nāham bhakṣitavānamba sarve mithyābhiśaṁsinaḥ

yadi satyagirastarhi samakṣaṁ paśya me mukham

Mom, I have not eaten (earth), all they (do) false accusation,

if the speech (is) true, see my mouth before the eyes.

yadyevaṁ tarhi vyadehītyuktaḥ as bhagavān hariḥ

“In this case, open (your mouth) wide” – said so – He, the Glorious Hari,

opened it without impeding (his) opulence, (like) human child game.

37.

sā tatra dadṛśe viśvaṁ jagat sthāsnu ca khaṁ diśaḥ

sādridvīpābdhibhūgolaṁ savāyvagnīndutārakam

Ela viu lá (dentro da boca) todo (o universo) móvel e imóvel, as direções,

o céu, montanha, ilha, oceano, o hemisfério terrestre, vento, fogo, lua, estrela.

She saw there (within the mouth) every movable and unmovable (universe),

the directions, sky, mountain, island, ocean, the Earth hemisphere, wind, fire, moon, star.
